The VD series is ideal for use as an under-seat subwoofer or in applications with limited mounting depth. The VD-10 has a competition-grade pressed paper cone, a high-roll foam surround, and a 2-layer Conex spider that allows it to perform consistently for hours. HOW TO SET UP
The first step is to remove the door trims by unscrewing all visible screws as well as those hidden under the plastic panels. Remove the door now. Remove the old wire as well as the crossover. Connect the crossover’s input to the factory speaker wire, then split the high and low signals between the woofer and the tweeter. Mark out the screw position, rack out the cordless, and drill the holes after lining up the speaker where it will sit in the door. The next step is to use cable ties to tidy up the wiring so there is no irritating rattling from inside the door. Then connect everything and replace the door in its original location.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How excellent is Skar’s audio quality?
Excellent speakers, especially considering the price. Amazing speakers. They have fantastic crisp highs and midst, as well as incredible bass for their size, and they go pretty low for 6.5s. I have two of these in the back of my Del Sol, as well as two infinity thin 6.5s in the doors, and it sounds like I have a little subwoofer.
- What is the lifespan of Skar SUBS?
In a daily driven vehicle, we find that it takes around a week of consistent music listening. You can re-tune your system to the original setting after the initial 24 to 36 hours.
- Do shallow-mount subwoofers have a nice sound?
The sound quality of a shallow mount subwoofer is generally inferior to that of a larger subwoofer. On a shallow mount subwoofer, you’ll have a hard time getting the same bass and low end frequencies in as clear and loud a manner as you would with another sort.
- Is it true that shallow subs are just as wonderful as regular subs?
Shallow mount subs are generally lighter and thus more portable. They’re better for cars because they won’t clog up your rear speaker deck if you decide to put one in there. Regular subs are less ideal for automobile audio due to their bulkiness.
- Is it better to use a 2ohm or 4ohm resistor?
A lower electrical resistance subwoofer generates a louder sound than a higher electrical resistance subwoofer, hence 2ohm subwoofers are louder than 4ohm subwoofers. Due to their higher power consumption, 2 ohm subwoofers are more likely to generate inferior sound quality.
- How long does it take for Skar subs to break in?
In a daily driven vehicle, we find that it takes around a week of consistent music listening. You can retune your system to its original setting after the initial 24 to 36 hours. Your subwoofer(s) have now been broken in and are ready to use.
- Is it necessary to break in subwoofers before using them?
Subwoofers require some break-in time to get their best sound quality. A subwoofer might take anything from 20 to 100 hours to break in. If you don’t want to deal with this, you can go for a factory-installed system.
- What is the difference between a shallow mount subwoofer and a deep mount subwoofer?
When selecting a subwoofer, the style of mounting is an important factor to consider: shallow or standard. Regular installations tilt the woofer for improved sound projection and power output, while shallow mounts conserve space and allow for more bass speaker placements.
- What is the optimal ohm for bass?
The 4 Ohm is the preferable alternative if you want a smooth time while bumping to your tunes. If you want your music to be loud, the 2 Ohm sound system is the way to go. A reduced impedance indicates that the resistance is low, and that the power emitted is a direct reflection of the power provided to it.
- Which is better: a single voice coil subwoofer or a twin voice coil subwoofer?
The subwoofer’s performance, frequency response, or power rating are unaffected by voice coil changes. A twin voice coil sub does not necessarily perform better than a single voice coil sub.
