  • Contact with water or high humidity can corrode the chair. Therefore, avoid using the chair in the shower or in the rain.
  • Do not store the chair in an area with high humidity such as outdoors or in damp basements.
  • Thoroughly dry the chair as soon as possible in the event that it does get wet.
  • Never bring an open flame near the chair. The cushions and backrest may ignite upon contact with a flame.

FOR THE CAREGIVER:

  • Each caregiver must have enough strength to move the wheelchair including its user. This also means they must be strong enough to tip the chair back to in order to overcome obstacles such as thresholds.
  • Check before every use that the push handles are securely attached.
  • Always lock the brake when you enter or leave the wheelchair. This will prevent the risk of tipping over or rolling away unintentionally.

TRANSPORT IN MOTOR VEHICLES:

This FLUX® is not intended as a substitute for a car seat. The chair user must always change to a designated car seat or transport safe chair before any journey can begin.

  • Add cushions or any other seating supports.
  • Changing posture, seating position, and weight distribution.
  • Using the FLUX® on a ramp or sloped surface.

Press in the snap buttons and insert the footplate hanger into the hanger tube housing as shown. Rotate the hanger tube until the snap buttons lock the footplates into a forward-facing position. For transfers, the footplates can swing away by pressing the snap buttons in and twisting the footplates outward.

HAND RINGS:

The Hand rings are designed for use by the chair occupant for the purpose of sell-propulsion and are not required when being pushed by a caregiver. The hand rings increase the overall width of the FLUX® by 2 inches and are not recommended for confined spaces or narrow doorways

TILT ADJUSTMENT:

The tilt tension adjustment is modified by turning the large round knob found underneath the seat toward the front of the chair. The tilt tension knob will increase or decrease the amount of force needed to make the chair rock or recline backward. Usually, several turns of the tilt tension knob are required to loosen or tighten the tension to a noticeable level.

TILT LOCK:

The FLUX® Slim-line uses a single rod that can be pushed in or pulled out to lock or unlock the tilt mechanism. The tilt-lock is used to lock the chair when it is in the upright position only.

The FLUX® Dart uses a universal locking mechanism that can be pushed down to lock the chair at any angle.

HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT:

A pneumatic cylinder is attached to the chair’s mechanism located under the seat cushion. This cylinder allows for quick and easy adjustment throughout a specified height range. To adjust the seat height, use the paddle located underneath the seat cushion on the right side of the chair.

GETTING AROUND

There are three methods of getting around in the FLUX®. The user can propel themselves with the hand rings (optional) or by removing the footplates and using their feet to scoot along. Or, a caregiver can propel the chair with the push handles (optional).

NARROW DOORWAYS:

It is always best to approach a doorway facing straight in. Keep your hands, feet, and knees in to avoid pinching them between the chair and door frame. If necessary, it may be possible to grab the door frame and pull yourself through.

RAMPS AND THRESHOLDS:

Always approach ramps and thresholds with caution as a sudden stop may propel the user from the chair. Slow down and if possible, lean back to reduce the user weight of the front wheels
